Lebanon
A place that was known as a paradise in the Middle East, full of mountains and a beautiful coastline. Beirut used to be famous as a beach holiday destination among European and local travelers. A decade-long civil war, a huge economical crisis, and on top of that the devastating explosion of 2020, have led the country into decay. If you walk through Lebanon these days, you can see abandoned luxury streets with leftovers of shops from famous brands. Despite the country being in a bad economical state, they are still extremely welcoming to foreign tourists. The place has a lot to offer with its stunning nature, amazing cities, and ancient Roman history. It was an eye-opening visit to a lost paradise with on top of that a helicopter flight with the Lebanese army. Critical note: we visited the Mleeta museum which openly supports Hezbollah, worth it, but first read for yourself about the ongoing conflict.
