Faroe islands
An atypical destination in my field of photography, connections with local people are rather hard to find here.. If you encounter local inhabitants, it will most likely be the sheep… They outnumber the human residents. The Faroes is an autonomous territory from Denmark located in the middle of the Atlantic between Iceland and Norway. The landscapes are extremely rough and some of the most beautiful I have ever seen! As a tourist, you don’t feel very welcome here since the whole archipelago is private farmland meaning you are always on private property. Farmers either ask big amounts of money to hike on their lands or not let you do it at all. Luckily you can explore the biggest parts of the Islands by road, but going deeper into the landscapes is sometimes impossible. I guess this comes with such a fragile small island community.
